ELIMINATES BLOWDOWN
The chemical companies use various chemicals to try to control the solids that cause the conductivity to rise and to remove the resulting scale. The chemical companies employ a secondary method to control the accumulation of solids and the rising conductivity levels. This method is blowdown.

Blowdown is the dumping of thousands of gallons of water down the drain to insure the removal of solids. The displaced water is then immediately replaced by new city water in a process that is repeated several times a day. Blowdown accounts for as much as half of the total water consumption for the cooling tower. Blowdown allows the chemical companies to manage the level of conductivity and control scale.

The TLC Envirotech System eliminates blowdown in the treatment of cooling tower water. Our patented technology filters out the total dissolved solids (TDS) left behind in the evaporation process resulting from the operation of the cooling tower. Conductivity is managed and controlled by the system technology to eliminate scale without the need for wasting water lost in the blowdown process.

The chart shown on this page indicates the gallons of water saved for several sizes of cooling towers from the elimination of blowdown with the installation of the TLC Envirotech System.
