Blowdown is the dumping of thousands of gallons of water down the drain to insure the removal of solids. The displaced water is then immediately replaced by new city water in a process that is repeated several times a day. Blowdown accounts for as much as half of the total water consumption for the cooling tower. Blowdown allows the chemical companies to manage the level of conductivity and control scale.
The chart shown on this page indicates the gallons of water saved for several sizes of cooling towers from the elimination of blowdown with the installation of the TLC Envirotech System. |
